The Toronto

This great variation of an Old Fashioned is served down. Normally shockingly bitter, the Fernet Branca is balanced nicely with sweet brown sugar syrup and spicy, bold rye whiskey. It's easy to let the Fernet's licorice flavor take center stage, so make sure to only mix the prescribed amount to avoid "bitter beer face."

  • 2 Oz Rye Whiskey buy at Ezra's
  • 1/4 Oz Fernet Branca
  • 2 Dashes Angostura Bitters
  • 1/4 Oz Demerara Syrup
  1. Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass full of ice
  2. Stir for 20 to 30 seconds
  3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass
  4. Garnish with an orange peel

  • Garnish Orange slice
  • Ice Regular cubes
